This is the Isla Mujeres Mizi doll from JHD Fashion Dolls. It was many years ago that I sat in Mrs. Robinson's Spanish class under my secret identity of "Teresa", but I think that means she is from the island of women. Sounds like a smart place. Her sculpt is called Anna May after famous Asian celebrity Anna May Wong, who I'm not familiar with here in the U.S. but I will say her face is lovely. This whole doll has a laid back, breezy, easy-going vibe that makes her kind of relaxing to have around. Plus, she looks like she just walked off the set of Mama Mia where she didn't get the part because she's not a blonde. When the light is coming in from the west behind her at sunset her Fashion Model 2.0 body really does make a beautiful, feminine silhouette through the crocheted caftan she's wearing.

Her hat is sort of too big to fit on her head. You can place it there, but it won't cling tight, it's just going to sit there like in the pic above. Which looks pretty enough, and the hat is something special because it's been woven by tiny elves! Ok in reality I'm sure it was made by machine, but it is carefully made, if a bit plain. If it were up to me, I'd have taken that flower off her skull and put it on the hat but that's just me.

This girl is on her way to the flower meadow to collect some more flowers apparently. She's got a huge woven basket (also done by teensy elves) and at first glance it looks to be overflowing with flowers. Upon closer inspection I discovered that her basket was actually totally empty with just a few flowers glued to the top to make it appear full. In fact, she's sorely behind on her flower picking if she thinks she's filling up this basket. It's a beautiful accessory; you could easily fill it up with flowers if you weren't drinking mai tais in your lounge chair by the pool all day like Mizi apparently is.

The basket, those elves are amazing!

After Mizi and I had a little talk about her work ethic, we got along fine. She explained to me about pretty privilege, and I discovered the truth is that pretty little Mizi just doesn't need a work ethic. Turns out the basket is just for show and she's NOT the one delivering you flowers. Nevertheless, she does deliver other things effortlessly with her very presence.

I love the baby hairs and the beauty mark she has. Some collectors are opposed to any kind of facial enhancements like these, but hey baby hairs happen. I have baby hairs every day and let's be honest - you probably do too. It's OK everybody, they're inevitable and not something we should be ashamed of but rather celebrate - I mean look how beautiful Mizi looks with them! Of course, mine don't curl so perfectly around my face, and unfortunately sometimes they stick straight up in the air... Look I am aware that baby hairs can cause bad hair days. But not when painted on a doll IMHO.

I've been putting this off because I didn't want to yank up Mizi's skirt this high, but it's exciting so we have to talk about it... her shorts. And before you look at this picture, I want you to commit mentally to the concept of them being SHORTS, and not just denim panties.

Not very ladylike.
Not very ladylike.

Everyone has worn a pair of daisy dukes in their lives, am I right? I know I had a couple of pair back in my 20's. These may be a slight bit shorter than the ones I wore, but that doesn't make them panties... Does it? Actually, I'm not totally sure about these shorts. Honestly, I guess they're just denim panties, but they are so damn cute I want them to be shorts! This article of clothing is a great addition to my collection, I love it!

I've always been open and honest with you over all these blog posts, but I don't think I've yet told you this sordid secret fact; I have very curly black hair. The picture below shows how my curls look when I step out of the shower:

 Au Natural.

That's obviously a lie reader, my curls are chaos IRL but on this doll curls are trained soldiers hanging at attention in perfect shining ringlets. You really almost don't even have to touch JHD dolls' hair when they come out of the box, the company does hair so well. I think there is less hair rooted in the doll's head than with an IT doll, but whatever it is, their system for setting and sending out dolls' hairstyles in ship shape to their customers is en pointe. So healthy and shiny!

Her lips are a bit pursed I think.

There's one other thing you notice with this Isla Mujeres, her eye makeup stands out quite a bit. Like, when the lights are off you can still see it glowing... Not really but it's very prominent. She's pretty, but if you look at her iris it is actually painted over her bottom eyeliner. Now I've never been that talented with my own makeup, but this is something I haven't even seen Trixie Mattel achieve in reality. Obviously, the flower collecting is just for show and this woman is a highly advanced makeup maven. I've been scouring YouTube for her GRWM videos but so far to no avail.

Once again, JHD made some irresistible shoes for this doll. Tiny strappy wedges with her signature pink flowers attached at the ankle. When I put them on her the doll rose to another level. Now she is ready to cha-cha. The shoes are a slay. Again.

I'm definitely ready to travel with this girl to Santorini or Capri or Maui or wherever she is going. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the fact that the flower on her head is bonded on there, that thing is not moving, but please - don't say anything to her she's sensitive about it! I know because I tried to get it off, but it appears it's not possible without leaving a little hole in her head and that would be pretty embarrassing for her at the luau. She's still just as pretty as a picture to me and her ensemble is really great. If you're someone who redresses their dolls, I would think she'd be one to pick up because of those shorts (panties) and her flowy caftan with pink and gold around the neck alone, not to mention her detailed and properly scaled down accessories. I've found that she's good to have in the house because when she catches my eye, she reminds me of summer and beaches and little drinks with umbrellas in them. And that short but sweet time in life when I looked cute in daisy dukes. Ah, the days!

Next week, back to my main ladies, the IT dolls!
