"Holographic" Novae by Integrity Toys

Is that silver? It's kind of silver...

Meet the somewhat not some peoples' thing, somewhat beloved new mascot for Nuface's new modeling agency just opened in Tokyo. Her name is Novae (in her release video they kept pronouncing it "Novee") and she is a hologram apparently. She's a digital person, constructed of pixels and megabytes and not matter (I don't know how to explain it any better) and plugged in to the ultimate zeitgeist of current fashion trends. So according to her description, her entire look changes to suit the needs of Nuface customers, and she is always completely current. I wouldn't disagree with any of that to look at this gorgeous creature, except for the haircut.

Stunning.

Since Novae is more of a concept than a reality, she doesn't get her own face. That may be why but for some reason Integrity Toys reused the Ayumi sculpt for her face, so she's definitely very beautiful. Her makeup is pretty subdued in this pic, and the lipstick doesn't stand out, but her eye makeup is silvery and pretty. This doll's hair is boldly listed as "Sterling Silver", which is almost a bridge too far. I tried to use white light in most of my pictures of her to make her hair look as silver as possible, but if there is any yellow light in the room this hair sucks it up in front of a camera. And there is yellow light everywhere! It's in my lamp, my flash, and the sun. It's like trying to escape the Eye of Sauron when you're wearing the ring of power, or some other less nerdy analogy. All I'm saying is if you see lots of pics of this doll with yellow hair, don't be surprised. But in real life, her hair is sort of... whitish? Leaning silver? It's incredibly hard to get a picture without it looking yellow. Integrity used a difficult color for silver for some reason.

I'm crazy about Novae's outfit. I love the iridescent shirt with the metallic scales, the oh so tiny mini skirt with the low-slung belt and miniscule pleats, so many little details in one little skirt - swoon! She's also got a ton of jewelry, two rings including one that's a big jewel (pictured above), a semi-juicy necklace, and silver earrings that looks like artistic "x"s. Of course, they are blocked by the dreaded Hime haircut so we can't see them.

Headphones.

Last I knew, the kids all wanted air Pods, but I guess that was just a really expensive Christmas or two ago. I have seen them up at the school, skateboarding around with their baggy jeans and big giant headphones... Oh wait, that was back in the 90's when I was in high school... But I guess they're back, big headphones. I think they've kind of always been cool as a way to say to the world "Back off!" Headphones are cool but not on this doll who is cursed with the dreaded Hime haircut. They only thrust the little Hime pieces forward and enhance the Himieness of the whole thing. So, I won't display her with these things on, sorry Novae.

Trench coat!

Novae's trench coat is a very finely made garment. It is carefully sewn with the shoulder pieces and the tiny buttons, the working pockets and the precise darting at the waist on the front and the back, it's really impressive. This is getting our money's worth to me. It has tightening straps at the cuffs and the waist, three tiny decorative silver buttons at the bottom front and back at the breaks in the hem, not to mention the gorgeous collar. It's a little work of art.

Boots.

Her boots are another quick thumbs up from me. I love a nice boot, especially combined with a good skirt. And the little silver bee bees, that's exactly what these boots needed, a genius touch.

Silver-ish?

I love this doll, I think she's beautiful and I love her style. She has a cell phone too in lavender of course and that's the other thing about her, since I saw this blackberry ice cream color on her in her promo email, I have been obsessed with it. I've found it to have calming qualities and I've been buying things that color and bringing out any clothes or blankets I have that color and changing my backgrounds to that color and surrounding myself with it and I feel very... peaceful... Maybe that's what Nuface customers needed.
