She's back just in Valentime! Not really.
She's back just in Valentime! Not really.

I must apologize reader. I did have this pretty little Poppy on Valentine's Day, and I really wanted to release her post in a timely fashion the Thursday before actual Valentine's. But believe it or not it actually takes me about a week to spend time with these dolls and think about them and stare at them intently (and also lazily) to come up with the ideas that are in these posts. I just need some bonding time and "Be Mine" and I didn't have that kind of time before V-day. Like so many couples, Poppy and I had to postpone our Valentine's Day date a bit because of our busy work schedules. But when the day finally came and I opened her giant, overgrown yet extremely impressive heart shaped candy box I fell in love right away.

Thar she blows!
Thar she blows!

Ooooo better than chocolates!
Ooooo better than chocolates!

Poppy has had a nap since her "Star Muse" incarnation. She's also been in a time machine and gone back to the very edge of just completed puberty, where she hovers eternally. I'm not sure what happened (actually I'm pretty sure that no one and nothing squeezed my Poppy's head out of shape this time) but Poppy is young again. Something about a brown haired, brown eyed Poppy gives me a cozy, happy feeling inside, like a warm, fresh from the oven chocolate chip cookie.

So sweet and cozy.
So sweet and cozy.

Poppy is back in full force with all her charms here, she has tiny bows on her shoes and wrists in her little girl red dress look, and a sweet little silver charm bracelet with a white heart dangling from it, to match her white heart earrings and white heart brooch. While I do despise bows being used as tops or other apparel, add them to a doll's heel or wrist or hair and I swoon. Once again, I think her screening looks much better in person than in the pictures we have seen of her leading up to her release. In person, Poppy generally looks a lot better than she does in her promos to me. We've had a few of these forward glancing Poppies come out and they are pretty of course, but I've decided I like a sideways glancing Poppy better. When she's looking right ahead her lids just tend to look heavy and it kind of makes her appear either bored or slightly horny, and I don't even like to use the word "horny" in front of my Poppies. Not so much with this Poppy, but my "Star Muse" sort of looked like she was lookin' for love in all the wrong places if you know what I mean. My Poppies are innocent sweet little schoolgirls, and I want them to look that way. I have Agnes if I need to be around a bored bitchy doll. And sometimes reader, for some reason, I do.

The controversial sweater-kini.
The controversial sweater-kini.

This beautiful and sweet little Poppy caused quite an uproar when she first started shipping to customers. See the above sweater bikini top is supposed to be a full-size sweater vest, down to the waist and everything. But somehow before it shipped, they accidentally ignored the dry clean only label, threw it in with her other clothes, shrunk it to heck, and then they sent them out like that. People were upset. I can certainly understand that because it's clearly not as advertised. I thought seriously about sending mine back if she came like that, and then she did. Ultimately, I decided to keep the defective sweater bikini. Sometimes damaged or defective items can end up being valuable like misprinted coins or if you have the Beatles Butcher album cover. Actually, I feel kind of bad for Integrity on this one, it seemed like they were trying to create a nice little treat for their customers, a sweet little Poppy for Valentine's Day that they already had in stock and ready to ship when they announced her - and then this vest disaster happened. It is unfortunate. But the Poppy's too good to dismiss just because of that mishap. Anyway, Integrity is doing everything they can to make it right - customers can keep the defective sweater tankinis and still get a new sweater vest of the correct size by emailing customer service. They tend to have pretty stand-up service, I would say, though it may take a little while they will get you what you need if they can.

She's got gear.
She's got gear.

Here you can see Poppy's sweet tiny heart shaped sunglasses and her little belt pouch for carrying around those little snoopy valentines from the 80's to give out to people that say things like "Let's get pizza!" and "Work out with me!". "Be Mine" made me finally realize that there is a big difference between the long nail manicured hands that come with a Poppy and the short nail hands that she usually arrives in. The long nail hands are textured with a hint of veins, while the short nail hands appear smooth and therefore younger. And let's face it short nails are definitely more innocent anyway, so I'll be keeping all my Poppies in the short nail hands from now on. She's just a kid fer cryin' out loud.

2nd fit
2nd fit

This Poppy comes with 2 completely different looks, the sweet little girl red dress with white stockings look, and this one which to me would look much cuter on roller skates than "Star Muse" did. Highlights for me are the pink polka dot onesie blouse, and the tall stripey socks. I love striped socks - ya got me again Poppy! The sweater vest was going to be a highlight too, but I've already told you that sad story. As you may have noticed, Poppy is wearing shorts again. Collectors have been complaining about Poppy and her ubiquitous shorts for a few doll releases now, but more Poppy shorts just keep coming. These dolls have obviously already been designed and put into production long before the complaints come, so here is Poppy in her sweet little shorts again. It must be hard NOT to add them; she does look great in shorts. But count me as one of the collectors who's had enough of them. Enough shorts, please. Hopefully this emotional roller coaster of being curious at the announcement of a new Poppy and then bitterly angry upon the discovery of more shorts on that Poppy will end as soon as possible.

Silly sunglasses.
Silly sunglasses.

I love this Poppy, even when she wears her ridiculous heart shaped sunglasses, which I also love. They only made 1200 of her and I was lucky enough to win her in the lottery which made me so happy I jumped up and clicked my little heels together like a leprechaun when I found out. It was pure glee. And that's what she's brought to my home with her red and white, with her pink polka dots and roses, with her ribbons and bows. She's a sweet girly, fresh-faced, charming little Poppy who's very loveable. The only thing that makes me worry is her hair, with the bump and all that long curly stuff hanging down in the back, I'm afraid frizz is in her future. But we will deal with that when the time comes. As long as she still has that face, when she looks at you like she's in love...
