An angel?
An angel?

And here is the next employee of the new Tokyo NuFace office. Her name is Yuri, she has a demonic twin sister named Kumi, and she was apparently the original sculpt for the other famous NuFace twins, Lilith and Eden Blair, whom I adore. But I gather that Integrity has changed her sculpt to make it more particular to Yuri and her sister now, and not just a blank of the Blair sisters (even though I'd say she and her twin just look very much like the Colette sculpt now). There's some Integrity Toys history here that I did not witness and can only report, but I have come to learn that some people apparently have grown tired of the dear Blair twins, which is a sentiment I can't commiserate with myself reader. Having come into the world of IT collecting only 2 to 3 years ago, I still find Lilith and Eden quite charming and would count them as among my favorites to collect. But the company would never survive if they only listened to me so thank goodness they have listened to the majority of their customers and awakened these pretty twins from the annals of IT history and given them a new makeover. Also, I read that they have smaller heads to fit on the new smaller NuFace busts/necks, although I'm not sure that making dolls' heads smaller is something that we want. Anyway, when I first removed this pretty Yuri from her box and saw all the platinum blonde curls I had a Dolly Parton from the 80's moment, and then I became depressed because that's my first go-to reference?

Yuri's top...
Yuri's top...

Once I got over that where did the time go feeling, I started giving Yuri the attention she deserved. She's definitely a pretty doll, although not quite one that makes me swoon, I have to say. I think she was a bit pricey for arriving with a bra (although it's a pretty bra) and a miniskirt. She needs a coat or something, or maybe just a blouse to throw over that bra, a little coverage.

For this capsule collection I feel like the theme has been clear cabochon. Novae had a big clear cabochon ring, and now Yuri has cabochon earrings, a big fat cabochon ring like her predecessor, and another silver butterfly ring I've not seen before that looks like diamonds and spreads out to cover three fingers. I really like it, it's sort of gangsta. I'm not a fan of the hat, and most of the hats for dolls that I see in general so I guess you could just say, I'm not a hat fan. But I must say, it's because of hats like these. It looks silly. It won't sit on her head. When it sits down on her head, it actually looks kind of cute, but you have to pin it to get it to stay there. Why can't it just be the right size? All her other clothes are her size, why is it I have to pin her ding dang hat to her head, or it won't stay on there? Woah, I apologize reader, I guess that has been building up for a while.

A lacey white frilly gauntlet

Yuri is dressed for a K-Pop concert (I wonder if K-pop bands sing or just lip sync at the concerts?) or some kind of musical performance or something spectacular I hope because no part of her outfit is practical in any way, other than the saving grace that she is wearing a pair of white panties. From the fact that she forgot to put on a shirt and is wearing her bra in public things only get stranger. She's wearing gauntlets, but not made of leather or iron, white lace with tiny sequins sewn thru it, and she has pretty pink fingernails. So, she's not ready to fight in the Roman Arena, but she'd be unbeatable at cleaning out those cobwebs over the cellar stairs.

Very detailed.
Very detailed.

Her purse is very detailed. I love it for its complexity and the cute bow on the front. It has almost microscopic decorative leather loops, it's all connected by teensy metal hoops, ribbon, and chain, it's pure white with white satin material gathered along the bottom as that's where the body of the purse is. It's a great miniature.

The white boots.
The white boots.

This girl has got some pretty substantial boots under her. They thankfully zip up so you don't have to mess with all that stringing of boot, which would drive me to drink. Or more likely to take a clozapine. They are flat footed, which is definitely something the designer (Jesse Ayala) did on purpose. Most of the girls that come out of Integrity Toys come strutting out on the highest of heels, especially when it comes to big boots like these. It definitely should make her more innocent than a stratospheric stiletto heel, but I'm afraid that ship sailed with Yuri's visible bra top so the effect that they have on me is she looks a bit childish or immature. This isn't my favorite use of the boot I've seen IT make. She does come with decorative socks, but there is no possible way to make them stretch from her feet to leave a pretty little lacey sock remnant above the top of the boot like in the promos. The socks only make it about mid shin, and that's as tall as they are. Anyone who has pics of these boots with the pretty sock showing above them on the doll, must have some other sock or else they cut the tops of these socks off so they could show them above the boots.

Drop the mic.
Drop the mic.

But enough of my ire over the unsatisfactory boot/sock ratio. On to Yuri's other cool accessory, her microphone. It has a silver top which she presumably sings into, a tiny silver on/off button, and a small silver antenna poking jauntily out of the end. It's very cute. And she can really hold it like she's singing, although it makes her lace gauntlet flop back in her face, so you have to adjust things. That's how it goes with dolls, pose them and then adjust this, fix that. Then they fall over and everything goes flying, turn on the flashlight on your phone and find everything again and then start all over, slightly more annoyed than when you started. And for what? Oh, don't get me started reader I have been asking myself why I feel like I can't tell certain people in my life about my hobby, while at the same time loving it more all the time and getting even more out of it emotionally. It's a tug of love household this house of dolls that we live in, reader.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention Yuri's new innovative bracelet. You can see it in the above picture on her microphone hand. It's silver, has tiny, long, clear skinny tubes sticking out from it with tiny silver balls on the ends of the tubes... I'm not sure what is going on with it, but I guess I like it? It looks better in the picture than it does in real life, off camera it looks like a (well done) craft project rather than a piece of jewelry but pop stars gotta be flashy, I guess.

Beauty
Beauty

In the end, I have to say I still prefer Eden or Lilith to Yuri. I tend to like the darker side of things so maybe I'll like her sister "Demonic Strings" Kumi more, not that I don't like Yuri, I do. She looks so much like the Colette sculpt to me, especially in the chin/jawline and unfortunately, once you see a thing like that you just can't unsee it. But people have posted gorgeous pictures of her on Instagram, she looks so much better in heels. And clothes. I think Jesse lost me on the bra top and the useless lace gauntlets, although much of fashion is useless few things are as brazenly useless as gauntlets I would argue. I do like her face, hair, jewelry and skirt, although with her hair being so close to white it kind of makes her a washout doll with the pale skin as well. I'd like to see her in a different offering that was a little more interesting, a little more complex. I kind of feel like I can't get my ankles wet here, like Yuri's the kind of girl you hang out with, and she's got one-word answers to everything and no good stories and isn't funny and you realize there's not a lot going on in that pretty little head of hers. I'd definitely like to see her again, but maybe some more depth and personality from her next time.
